When you buy a new pan or pot, it is important that you wash them with soap and warm water before using them for the first time.
For cleaning, try not to use metal fibers or scourers, but a sponge or a soft bristle brush, to keep its surface free of scratches. Also do not use metal spoons or spatulas when handling food, as they could also leave marks.
If something burns, put water in the pot and bring it to a boil for 10 minutes. Let it warm and wash normally. And to avoid white spots, boil a splash of vinegar with water for a few minutes, and then wash as usual.
