There are tons of doughy, meat filled foods throughout dozens of cultures around the world. So many, in fact, that it can be difficult to know where to start when making your own. Well, we at Machika have your back with this easy homemade dumpling recipe for beginners! With that in mind, here are the ingredients you will need to make this recipe:

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
(or baking soda
with added acid
to create substitute)
1 teaspoon granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of non-salted
butter or margarine
½ cup of whole milk
Combine your dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl (flour, sugar, and salt)
Cut butter into small pieces and add to your dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until butter is nearly completely melted into the dough.
Add milk while stirring until dough all milk is absorbed and dough becomes soft.
In a boiling pot with a lid, add about 1 large spoonful.
Cover and lower to a simmer.
After about 15 minutes, remove and serve.
