Machika Argentinian Beef Empanada Recipe

The first step to a great empanada is making the dough. Now, if you simply do not have the time, you could buy yourself some premade empanada dough at your local supermarket or online. But if your local market is closed or out of premade dough and waiting for an online order is too time consuming, you can instead make it yourself with only a few ingredients.
4 cups of flour
1/2 cup of room temperate salted butter
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 cup of room temperature water
1 pound of ground beef
1 teaspoon of oregano
2 whole onions (diced)
1/2 red bell pepper
2 whole boiled eggs
1 tablespoon of cumin
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons of beef buillon
1/2 cup of green onions (finely chopped)
1/2 cup of salted or unsalted butter
Salt and pepper to taste

The steps for preparing the dough are just as simple as the ingredients. All you need to do is beat your eggs and mix all your wet ingredients before adding them to your dry ingredients in a large bowl. Knead thoroughly leave in a ball to rest for around 1 hour. You can also cover in plastic wrap and leave in the fridge for a day if you want to prepare it ahead of time
How to Make Argentinian Beef Empanada Filling
Heat up your olive oil and sauté onions for about 5 minutes or until semi-translucent
Add your paprika, cumin, and unsalted butter and mix with your onions.
Add your ground beef, green onions, and bouillon powder along with your oregano and cook until brown.
Turn off heat and let sit for about 30 – 60 minutes.

After preparing your wash, place your empanadas on a non-stick or oiled pan and brush them with your egg wash at least once.
Baked at 380° F for around 22 minutes.
Remove from oven and let sit about 15 minutes before eating.
